Bedfordshire Police Federation and officers across the force are remembering the 10 year anniversary of the death of PC 228 John Simmonds, who was only aged 27 and was known affectionately across the force as Simmo.

Simmo died on 5 August 2006 on his way home from a shift in Luton, after he was tragically involved in a road traffic collision on his motorbike in Houghton Conquest.

Simmo was a firearms officer on the South Hub and was a very popular officer and a dear friend to many, with an infectious smile and bubbly personality. Federation Secretary Emma Carter said ‘I always remember Simmo with a smile; I never knew him to not to be laughing, he was a great officer and was very highly thought of. It is important to remember to him’.

Simmo is remembered on the National Police Roll of Honour and Remembrance www.policerollofhonour.org.uk and at the National Police Memorial Day www.nationalpolicememorialday.org
