A sergeant has been elected as the new vice chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW).
Following a vote at an Interim National Board meeting at Federation headquarters in Leatherhead on 13 April, Calum Macleod, a sergeant from South Wales, was elected.
He said: “I’m delighted to be elected to the position of vice chair. I realise it is a huge responsibility to carry out this role on behalf of the membership, and I intend to work with the Council, the Board, and the members to ensure rank and file officers are fully represented moving forward.”
Calum has been a police officer for 22 years and became a PFEW representative in South Wales in 2011 taking on the role of regional equality lead in the same year.
He stood in the 2014 national PFEW elections because and became general secretary and treasurer for the Sergeants’ Central Committee.
Having joined Strathclyde Police in 1994, he was with them until 2001 when he transferred to South Wales Police.
For the majority of his service he was based in Cardiff as a response constable. He was promoted in 2007 and served in a range of neighbourhood and response roles.
He replaces Will Riches as vice chairman and takes over his responsibilities immediately.
