Lecture honours former chairman

The former chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has once again been commemorated at a national lecture.

More than 100 members from police forces across the country attended the third Paul McKeever lecture, which was hosted by Keith Vaz MP, chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, at the House of Commons.

Paul passed away suddenly in January 2013, aged 57 and just weeks before he was due to retire.

Chairman calls for more access to Taser

Calls have been made for all officers who want to be armed with Taser to have it, following an incident in Sheffield.

On 13 April five officers were injured responding to a domestic incident which later turned out to involve a man with an axe.

IPCC inquiry

Operation Rutland – the fraud inquiry led by Surrey Police - is being independently investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC). The inquiry relates to the alleged transfer of £1 million from the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) Constables’ Central Committee to outside of the organisation.

Federation elects new vice chairman

A sergeant has been elected as the new vice chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW).

Following a vote at an Interim National Board meeting at Federation headquarters in Leatherhead on 13 April, Calum Macleod, a sergeant from South Wales, was elected.
