'We Will Work With You'

Federation chairman Steve White pledged to work with the Government to improve the police service for the benefit of the public during his keynote speech to conference.
But he called on the Home Secretary to make a similar promise in return.

From devolving policing in England through to Northumbria Police’s Operation Dragoon, Day 1 of the national Police Federation conference certainly had plenty of content.
The most interesting session featured the keynote speeches of the national Police Federation chairman and the Home Secretary, followed by the usual Q and A session involving delegates but, unusually, scheduled on the opening day of conference rather than the usual Wednesday morning slot.

Home Secretary Theresa May will take centre stage at today’s national Police Federation conference in Bournemouth.
Mrs May is scheduled to make her keynote speech to delegates, including Federation representatives from Bedfordshire, during the late morning conference session.

Proposals that could see retired officers being recalled to face misconduct proceedings more than 12 months after they have left the service are of great concern to the Police Federation of England and Wales, according to its national vice chairman.
